Canada Inappropriate Behavior Shows Its Embarrassment : Larijani

Tehran, Sept 9, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said Sunday that the Canadian government's inappropriate political behavior indicated its embarrassment about the achievements gained by the 16th NAM meeting in Tehran. Addressing the Majlis open session, Larijani said certain European states made unusual reactions to this behavior to show their might, but they proved their passiveness. Larijani further noted the bullying powers tried in vain to exert economic pressures on the Islamic Republic of Iran. In a hostile measure, the Canadian foreign minister issued a statement on Friday saying his government had closed its embassy in Tehran and gave the Iranian diplomats in Canada five days to leave the country. Criticizing such measures, Larijani praised the successful holding of the Non-Aligned Movement meeting in the Iranian capital on August 26-31. He reiterated that it was an indication to Iran's powerful role in creating stability to the world. Presence of high-ranking delegates from over 100 world countries in the NAM meeting was a big "No" to adventurist policies of the bullying powers against the Islamic Republic of Iran, said Larijani. He added that the NAM member states in Tehran expressed their strong support for Iran's peaceful nuclear activities. The Majlis speaker hoped the movement would witness greater convergence among its members during Iran's presidency in the next three years. He at the end praised the inaugural speech of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the NAM Summit./end
