CEIBC members meet head of State Agency for Renewable & Alternative Energy Sources of Azerbaijan

Baku, September 24 (AzerTAc). Members of the Caspian European Club (CEIBC) have met with the head of the State Agency for Renewable & Alternative Energy Sources of Azerbaijan (ABOEMDA) Akim Badalov. Chief Executive Director of CEIBC Telman Aliyev highlighted the history and activity of the Club. Head of the State Agency for Renewable & Alternative Energy Sources of Azerbaijan Akim Badalov stated at the meeting of the Caspian-European Club (CEIBC) that the process of forming ABOEMDA has almost completed, and now the Agency is at the stage of beginning to implement projects and not only in Azerbaijan. “We are currently considering a project for 2015. It concerns the creation of generating capacity of 300 MW with use of solar, thermal and wind energy, and biomass energy,” Badalov said. As known, the State Agency for Renewable & Alternative Energy Sources of Azerbaijan is developing projects aimed at increasing generating capacity. Badalov added that active preparatory work is underway to connect in the near future the first large wind plant with capacity of 50 MW in the territory of settlement Yeni Jashma with network of Azerenerji (national energy operator). Work is also being conducted on the design of solar power plants in seven regions of the country, where the foundation of these stations will be laid by early 2015. Options of power generation at the expense of biomass energy in two other regions (Siyazan and Sheki) are under discussion as well. “We are working with German experts, and laying of the foundation of the stations in these regions is expected already next year,” Badalov emphasized. He pointed out that work on engineering of small hydropower plants in several regions of the country is going to start in the near future. Small hydroelectric power stations can become a business for the Agency not only in Azerbaijan. At his words, Iran has proposed to join its national program of the construction of small hydropower plants on the Caspian coast. The Agency’s chief was presented honorary member diploma of CEIBC. AS known, the II International “Caspian Energy Forum -2014” will be hosted in Tbilisi in November current year.
