Certain Countries Want Iraq Back To Its Previous Situation: Commander

Tehran, June 16, IRNA - Commander of the Armyˈs ground forces Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said here on Monday that certain countries want Iraq to return to its previous situation. Addressing a local gathering, Commander Pourdastan stressed that the terrorists affiliated to Daesh (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) group have launched a large scale operation in Iraq. He also expressed hope that the Iraqi people and army could perform their duty in confronting the Daesh terrorist group. Iraq enjoys an important political geographcail situation in the region and possesses huge oil reserves and this explains why western and regional countries have cast a covetous eye on the country, he added./end
