China hopes new cooperation agreements with Russia will be reached - president

Beijing is looking forward to new cooperation agreements with Russia, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Thursday receiving Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov who is paying an official visit to the Chinese capital. "It’s very nice to see you. Please, convey my cordial greetings and best wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin," Xi Jinping said. "President Putin’s forthcoming visit to China is a major event in the bilateral relations, and I attach great importance to this." "I hope during this visit we will be able together with Vladimir Putin to develop new plans for further development of the Russian-Chinese relations and reach new agreements," he said. The Chinese president also recalled that, together with the Russian leader, he will take part in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tashkent where various issues related to the development of this organization will be discussed.
