China ready to expand dialogue with Russia on African cooperation - foreign ministry

BEIJING, April 18. /TASS/. China is interested in expanding the dialogue with Russia on cooperation within the African continent in order to ensure development and peace in the region, the Chinese Foreign Ministry informed on Thursday. "China is ready to expand dialogue with Russia on African issues, in order to influence Africa’s development in a joint manner, support a prosperous atmosphere for cooperation of the international community with this region, and take active steps to support peace and development there," Dai Bing, head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Department of African Affairs, said during the meeting with his Russian colleague Andrei Kemarsky. The Chinese diplomat added that China and Russia have similar positions on African issues, being able to "combine mutual benefits and characteristics in order to cooperate in a corresponding area." On April 17, China hosted the second Chinese-Russian dialogue on African issues, during which the sides exchanged opinions on the prospects of expanded cooperation in this area. Read more
