Chinese diplomat urges all parties to work towards dialogue on Korean peninsula issue

BEIJING, September 20. /TASS/. China is encouraging all the parties concerned to exercise restraint and get back to resolving the Korean dilemma through dialogue, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Kang stated. The diplomat commented on US president Donald Trump’s remarks saying that should Pyongyang pose a threat to Washington or their allies, the US will have to "destroy completely" North Korea. "At present, the situation on the peninsula remains complicated. We hope that the concerned parties will fully adhere to the terms of the resolutions and at the same time show restraint. In addition, (they) should make an effort and create conditions for returning to the correct way of resolving the nuclear problem peacefully, through dialogue and consultations," he stressed. According to the spokesman, all resolutions for North Korea adopted by the UN Security Council reflect the shared views and consensus of the global community. "Firstly, they indicate that the international community stands for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and is unanimously against the DPRK violating the terms of these resolutions to fulfill their nuclear missile program," he noted. "Secondly, the resolution calls upon all the parties concerned to remain committed to peace and stability on the peninsula and to resolving the problem through diplomatic and political means. I assume that concerned parties should equally implement these conditions," the diplomat concluded. Read more
