Commander: Enemies Unable To Recognize Iran's Preventive Force

Tehran, Dec 4, IRNA – Commander of Iran's Navy said that with presence in all oceans, Irans Navy is trying for world peace, adding that the force has an effective preventive power, which enemies are unable to recognize. Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, in a meeting with foreign countries military attachés in Tehran on Tuesday evening, said he hoped the gathering would cause increasing consolidation between our countries especially in the field of security on the sea. He said Iran's history as a civilized country indicated a constructive interaction with world countries, adding that we have always proved the issue for our friends and neighboring states and we believe that Iran's Navy, by being present in the free waters and world oceans, is trying for world peace. The rear admiral continued that actions like establishment of military bases, interference in domestic affairs of countries and support for terrorist groups would cause disruption in the regional security and affect security of world waters, which is not acceptable by the world community. Concerning security in the Indian Ocean, the commander said that we believe countries of the region, by interaction among themselves can provide the security. He reminded that Iran's Navy, by dispatching 28 flotillas, could provide security of the region against pirates and has since last summer rebuffed 10 cases of attack and released two seized vessels./end
