Congressman: Members Of Both US Parties Seeking Ties With Iran

New York, July 29, IRNA – Member of the American Congress David Price said members of both US political parties are seeking ties with Iran. Talking to IRNA, he made the remarks in reference to the letter by 131 members of the House of Representatives to the US President Barack Obama stressing the need for Tehran-Washington direct talks. He pointed to significant potentials for regional cooperation between the two countries, stating that it would be a mistake for the US administration to miss the historical chance of dialogue with Iran to help settle the nuclear dispute. The congressman, who initiated the last week letter to President Obama singed by 131 Democrat and Republican fellow colleagues, also said that the correspondence indicated the broad support of the members of both parties for diplomacy with Iran. He hoped that President Obama would share the same idea put forward to him in the letter and take practical steps regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Price further believed that the world should still wait for outcomes of the election of Hassan Rohani as Iran’s next president./end
