Council of CSTO Assembly to meet in St. Petersburg to discuss problems of CSTO development

MOSCOW, April 15. /TASS/. The Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will meet in St. Petersburg on April 16 to discuss problems of the development of the organization for the near future, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told TASS on Wednesday. CSTO Secretary-General Nikolai Bordyuzha, the speakers of the parliaments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan and the official delegations of these countries will attend, the spokesman said. Besides, representatives of the parliaments of observer countries from Afghanistan and Serbia will join, the spokesman said. The CSTO Council will discuss the situation in the zone of the CSTO responsibility and adjoining areas, discuss the priorities of the Tajik chairmanship of OSTO in 2015, sum up the results of a Coordinating conference of the defense and security committees of the parliaments of the CSTO member states, he said. The CSTO Council is also to make a resolution on broadening a program for the rapprochement and harmonization of the national legislations of the CSTO member states for 2011-2015. It will also discuss the progress of the realization of the CSTO previous resolutions connected with the monitoring of the military political situation in the zone of the OSTO responsibility. On the agenda are also problems connected with the preparations for a practical-scientific conference " Priority directions for inter-parliamentary cooperation in the OSCT format for strengthening collective and international security," the CSTO spokesman said.
