Court Orders French Firm To Pay Dlrs 10m To Iran

Tehran, Sept 17, IRNA – An international court based in France ordered a French company to pay dlrs 10 million to Iran in compensation, an official said here Wednesday. Managing Director of Natural Gas Storage Company (NGSC) Mashoud Samivand told IRNA on Wednesday that the court convicted the French company Sofregaz to pay dlrs 10 million to Iran in compensation. The ruling came after Iran filed a case with the international court about the French company's refusal to perform its commitments in a gas storage project in the Yortsha region near the city of Varamin south to Tehran, he said. The court approved of Iran's claims and voted in favor of Iran to be compensated with 10 million dollars, the official added. Yortsha in located 70 kms south to the capital Tehran and is planned to become a major gas reservoir center. Once implemented, the project will be able to store 600 million cubic meters of natural gas./end
