Crash in Sinai not to affect Russia-Egypt relations - PM

SHARM EL-SHEIKH, November 17. /TASS/. The relations between Russia and Egypt will not be affected by the Russian A321 passenger jet crash on the Sinai peninsula, Egypt’s Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said on Tuesday. "The relations between Russia and Egypt will not be affected by the tragedy," the premier said. Russian Kogalymavia’s A321 plane en route from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg crashed on October 31 around 30 minutes after takeoff in North Sinai, 100 kilometers to the south of Al-Arish. None of the carried 217 passengers and seven crewmembers survived in the crash. Alexander Bortnikov, head of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), announced earlier on Tuesday that traces of foreign-made explosives had been discovered on the wreckage of the downed plane and on passengers' belongings. On November 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered flights to Egypt suspended amid security concerns. Read more
