Daily commends Rouhani’s effective détente policy

Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA - The détente policy on foreign relations and the nuclear program of President Hassan Rouhani's government over the past year has helped secure national interests, commended 'Iran Daily' on Tuesday. This is despite the fact that the President's administration has been faced by a barrage of criticisms from opponents who claim that the foreign policy stance has not been in the interest of the nation, noted the English-language paper in its Opinion column. Undoubtedly, having a peaceful situation inside and outside the country is vital for safeguarding the interests of Iranians. Peace can be achieved when we have no tension in ties with other states, underscored the paper. Reducing tensions in foreign relations will prepare the ground for economic development that will facilitate more welfare services to people and improve their standards of living, it added. The scientific, economic and industrial development of the country will boost the country’s wealth, might and prestige. Despite claims that the government is siding with certain groups, people know that resolving the country’s domestic and international problems is the top priority of the Rouhani administration, highlighted the daily. The government is rebuilding sectors that were not given due attention in the past eight years, which is why most people are backing the government’s policies. The government should continue to remove obstacles to the complete removal of sanctions and secure Iran’s nuclear rights through talks with the P5+1 group of world powers, suggested the paper. Regarding its foreign policy, the Rouhani administration should remain steadfast in defending its national rights in nuclear talks. Iran is a big and influential country. It should assume its real status in the world community by boosting ties with neighbors and mediating in regional disputes. Rouhani showed that he is determined to pursue his détente policy and his efforts have borne fruit for the country in the past one year. For example, the partial removal of sanctions because of the interim nuclear deal and the rising number of visits of foreign delegations to the country have resulted from Rouhani’s policies. Domestically, the economy is on the road to recovery and the latest report published by the Central Bank of Iran showed the country experienced a 4.6-percent economic growth in summer after two years of stagnation. These are good news for the people supporting the government’s policies and will help the country turn the corner, concluded the daily./end
