Daily praises Rouhani's Recent Live TV Interview

Tehran, Oct 18, IRNA - 'Iran Daily' on Saturday praised President Hassan Rouhani’s recent live television interview as "generally positive" and "unprovocative". One of the perceptible issues raised by the president in the interview was the political and social problems, for which he said cannot be resolved if they are overlooked, noted the English-language paper in its Opinion column. The problems do exist, stressed the paper, suggesting that the president should raise them without blaming anyone and should talk more about the problems in his future live interviews without being provocative as he did in his recent interview. With his unprovocative interview, the president actually brought sparks of hopes to the public, praised the paper The president refrained from just boasting of his government’s achievements and downplaying what had been done by his predecessor. He never talked about the dire situation of the country when he took office. In fact, he did so in order not to provoke reactions from the conservatives who were in power for eight years before him, it added. However, the president was expected to address other issues as well. He should have touched upon the problems in the universities and urged the academics to step up scientific researches. Rouhani should have talked about the problems in the agriculture sector and that Iran faces water shortage and should not use water for agricultural production. In fact, he should have talked more about the realities and the problems of the country without blaming anyone, concluded the daily./end
