Daily reflects on solutions to nuclear standoff

Tehran, Nov 18, IRNA - 'Iran Daily' on Tuesday reflecting on ways that could help resolve the nuclear standoff between Iran and the P5+1, believes that both sides should look for an alternative which could be the gradual removal of sanctions. This could help pave the way for a final agreement before the November-24 deadline, added the English-language paper in its Opinion column. There could be various solutions to disagreements between both sides. For example, they can strike a partial deal rather than a comprehensive one or they can choose a third way if they are in limbo, something between suspension or lifting of the sanctions which could the removal of sanctions over a short period of time, underscored the paper. It is yet to be seen that Iran and world powers would be able to end the decade-long dispute over Tehran’s nuclear energy program through a good deal before the fast-approaching deadline, it added. While the West seeks to suspend sanctions under a comprehensive nuclear deal, Iran wants the complete removal of sanctions. Compromises can make an agreement possible but if both Iran and the West insist on their stances, the talks will not produce a favorable result, the paper stressed. Media reports about the nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 indicate that a positive development is taking place but in fact there are thorny issues, including the capacity of uranium enrichment and the removal of sanctions, which indicate that nothing special has happened in the course of talks. It is said that 90 percent of the work has been done but the reality is that key issues remained unresolved, the paper concluded. *Nozar Shafiei is a member of the Majlis/end
