Danish EU council presidency to try to make Europe responsible, dynamic, green and safe

Baku, January 6 (AzerTAc). The Danish government has announced its presidency work programme, presidency which started 1 January 2012. Besides to have as main objectives to make Europe responsible, dynamic, green and safe, to boost growth will remain top of the Danes to-do list. The list of priorities for the Danish EU council presidency has been announced by the Danish government. The main objectives are to make Europe responsible, dynamic, green and safe. And with the economic crisis in Europe far from over, it seems that inspiring growth will remain top of the Danes to-do list. Danish Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Wammen stressed that at the moment, Europe is dealing with low growth rates and is dropping behind in global competitiveness. Danish presidency must therefore promote initiatives that can generate a more dynamic Europe. In addition, the Danish EU council presidency will have as priority fighting the climate change. This issue has been increasingly relegated to the sidelines amid continued talk of economic woes. The Danish presidency hopes to keep this most difficult and pressing challenge for Europe and the world at the top of policymakers` agendas. Minister Wammen underlined that Europe`s lead position in promoting the environmental area is threatened and we must therefore advance the green agenda in Europe. On the other hand, the Danish government highlighted that there would be a focus on how globalisation, the increasing pressure on EU borders from migration, and international crime all affect Europe`s safety. As a priority would also be the European cohesion policy and to reform of other major flagship policy areas such as the Common Agricultural Policy and the Research and Development Programme.
