Davutoglu: Format of trilateral meetings of Azerbaijani, Iranian and Turkish FMs can be expanded

Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan, March 7 / Trend E. Huseynov / Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu does not rule out expansion in the future of format of trilateral meetings of foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey. "In the future, the region's other countries, I mean, Armenia, Georgia and Russia will be able to join such meetings," Davutoglu said on Wednesday in Nakhchivan at a press conference following the meeting of foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey. He said good start was laid at the first meeting of the foreign ministers in Orumiyeh, Iran in April last year. "We continued discussions, agreed to hold similar meetings in the fields of trade, energy, tourism and transport. We hope that the South Caucasus region will turn into a region of peace," the Turkish Foreign Minister said. The minister noted it is necessary to discuss and resolve customs and border issues in order to achieve progress in this area. "Thus, we will be able to achieve prosperity in the Caucasus region," he added. Davutoglu also expressed hope that regional conflicts will be resolved. "In particular, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be resolved on the basis of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity," said Davutoglu.
