DEFENSE MINISTER OF QATAR VISITING

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A delegation led by Major-General Hamad bin Ali Al-Attiyah, the Minister of Defence of Qatar, started Thursday a working visit to Mongolia. After having watched a parade of servicemen on the Day of State Flag, Mongolia’s Minister of Defense Mr D.Bat-Erdene met his Qatari counterpart in the State House to run official talks. The two sides exchanged views on the global and regional security, present situation of the Mongolia-Qatar defense cooperation, its present and future. Mongolia and Qatar established the diplomatic relations on January 21 of 1998. The bilateral relations and cooperation in the defense started when the countries signed a cooperation contract between their Armed Forces in December of 2007. Accordingly, the two countries are developing the defense ties in preparing military staffers, running joint exercises for peacekeeping operations and combating terrorism. By the programme, the Minister of Qatar will be received by the President and Commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj. The visit of Qatari delegation will continue until Friday.
