Deputy FM Underlines Serious Attention To Democracy In Egypt

Tehran, July 6, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian urged support for legitimate demands of the Egyptians, underlining need for paying serious attention to the trend of democracy and avoiding militarism in the country. Talking to IRNA late Thursday night, he condemned any clashes which will drive the country towards violence, describing it as a measure in line with the enemiesˈ objectives. No doubt that the vigilant nation will prevent the Zionist regime from seizing the opportunity to stop the increasing trend of democracy in the country which is the outcome of the Egyptian revolution. The armed forces ousted Egyptˈs first democratically elected president Wednesday after just a year in power, installing a temporary civilian government, suspending the constitution and calling for new elections. The army announced Supreme Constitutional Court head, Adly Mansour to be sworn in as interim president on Thursday. He takes the helm of a nation deeply divided over the armyˈs ouster of its first freely elected president Mohamed Morsi following days of deadly clashes between his Islamist supporters and their increasingly numerous opponents./end
