Deputy PM believes government database protected from hackers

BANGKOK, Oct 23 (TNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon who supervises security affairs is confident that overseas hackers cannot attack a government database to show off their protest against the government’s idea to create a single international internet gateway. In response to reports on a plan to hack into the database of CAT Telecom, Gen Prawit who is also the defence minister said that the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and security agencies including the armed forces headquarters could cope. ICT Minister Uttama Savanayana said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha ordered him to monitor possible hackers and instructed government organisations to protect their databases well and simultaneously maintain their public services. He said public can be confident that their data are protected. Systems are modern. "I would like people to carefully consider information disseminated on websites because there is also false one. The ICT Ministry already contacted CAT which replied that released data were not its data. However, I do not believe that the act of hackers had anything to do with the establishment of a military cyber center. The ICT Ministry is duty-bound to prevent any attack from group of hackers,” Mr Uttama said. (TNA)
