Development of cooperation with Russian is DPRK’s unchanged position - newspaper

PYONGYANG, July 19. /TASS/. Development of cooperation with Russia remains an unchanged position of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), the country’s central newspaper Rodong Sinmun wrote on the 15th anniversary of signing the joint Russia-Korean declaration. The historic document, the article reads, "laid a firm base for further development of traditionally friendly bilateral relations," it "has favoured strengthening of peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region." A big input in development of relations between Russia and North Korea made "the visit to Russia in last November of Kim Jong-un’s envoy Choe Ryong-hae." During a seven-day visit apart from Moscow he visited Russia’s Far Eastern cities of Khabarovsk and Vladivostok. On July 19-20, 2000 at the invitation from the then leader Kim Jong-Il, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin visited the DPRK. It was the first visit of a Russian leader to the republic; and the result of the visit was signing of a joint declaration. Read more
