Dialog Only Way To Resolve Issues: Analyst

Islamabad, Oct 23, IRNA – A former Pakistani diplomat on Monday said dialogue is the only way to resolve issues and west should respect Iran’s stance over Tehran's peaceful nuclear program. Talking to IRNA, former ambassador to UAE, Air Marshal (Retd) Syed Qaiser Hussain said that Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Abbas Araqchi has rightly said that the US call for India's help on Iran's nuclear issue has indicated Washington’s complete frustration. “5+1 group has to start dialogue with Iran and stop issuing threats to the Islamic Republic,” he added. In his latest visit to India, the US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns called on Indian officials to help bring back Iran to negotiations table. It was the first time that US has openly asked New Delhi to intercede with Tehran. Syed Qaiser Hussain expressing his views said that Iran is an important country of the world and conflict with Iran is not in the interest of any country in the world. The analyst said that the US does not want to weaken Iran because in that case there would be no reason left for the US to stay in Gulf region. “The US wants to maintain the balance of power in Middle East,” he pointed out. The former diplomat viewed that the world powers always exert pressure to implement their demands and that is what they are exactly doing with Iran. “It is a normal behavior of the world powers,” he went on to say. Syed Qaiser Hussain added that Iran is a peace loving nation and wants to resolve all disputes with West through dialogue. He said that Iran’s position on their peaceful nuclear program is very clear. “They don’t want to make nuclear weapons and the west should accept the Iranian stance without any ill will,” the analyst said. Expressing his views the analyst said that today Iran has achieved the status of a respectable nation through their struggle. The latest round of high-level talks between Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) was held in Moscow on June 18 and 19 during which Iran has made some proposals and is presently waiting for the other side's response. Syed Qaiser Hussain has served as acting chief of the Pakistan Air Force. After retirement he was appointed as Pakistan’s ambassador to UAE./end
