Dialogue under threat will not bear fruit, Iran tells the West

TEHRAN, March 7 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament speaker Ali Larijani told the West that nuclear negotiations with Iran under an atmosphere of pressure and threat will not bear results. The five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany, known as 5+1 group, said Tuesday they have accepted an offer to resume talks with Tehran on the nuclear issue. “If they want to continue the same path of pressure, intimidation, and threat it will have no achievements for them because one cannot get concessions from Iran through threats,” Larijani said on Wednesday. Larijani said the West has taken an adventurist approach toward Iran’s nuclear program. “They know that Iran is not after nuclear weapons but their intention of creating such a commotion is to stonewall Iran’s progress and damage Iran’s reputation among Muslim countries,” Larijani, a former chief nuclear negotiator, noted.
