Different Interpretations Of Geneva Deal Prolongs Trend Of Decision-making: Araqchi

Tehran, Dec 30, IRNA – Different misinterpretations of a nuclear deal struck on November 24, Known as the Joint Plan of Action has prolonged the trend of decision making to implement the deal, Member of Irans negotiating team with P5+1, Abbas Araqchi said on Sunday. If there is no unforeseen problem, Geneva deal could be implemented by the end of January, Araqchi said. Iran and the P5+1 are scheduled to resume expert-level talks in Geneva on December 30 to discuss stage-by-stage implementation of the deal. With implementation of the deal, part of Western sanctions on Iran will be removed, Araqchi said. On negotiations with the United States, the deputy foreign minister said that any negotiations with Washington will focus on nuclear issue and Iran has no plan to talk about other issues with the United States. He said that talks with the US were more serious, as a main part of anti-Iran sanctions were unilaterally imposed by the US. Iran has no objection to IAEA supervision and according to Geneva deal is required to provide the International Atomic Energy Agency with certain information, Araqchi said. He made it clear that the Islamic Republic of Iran expects the UN nuclear agency to protect Iran's documents and the names of Iranian nuclear scientists. Referring to demands by some regional countries to attend nuclear talks with Iran, the top member of Iranian negotiating team said that Iran and even the P5+1 member states do not accept such request. On signing a petition by some 200 Majlis representatives urging the government to develop fuel enrichment technology to the level of 60 percent, Araqchi said the decision of Majlis would be binding on the government. He said in the meantime that the plan by Majlis is meant to respond to the Western governments in case they fail to fulfill their commitment to Geneva deal./end
