Different Options Should Be Examined In Nuclear Talks: FM

Tehran, May 26, IRNA – Iran and the Western governments will have to consider different options in order to be able to agree on a final deal during the nuclear talks, said Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday. In an exclusive interview with IRNA prior to his departure for Istanbul, Zarif said he was still optimistic about the next round of the nuclear talks with the six world powers. The negotiations could yield good results if the other side does not seek avarice, Zarif said, adding that they should know that pressures and sanctions will get nowhere. In the last round of talks between Iran and P5+1 in Vienna, some options were put forward by both sides but they failed to reach agreement, Zarif said. However he noted that there are still other options to be considered in the following rounds of the negotiations. Asked whether it is possible to strike a deal by a July 20 deadline, Zarif said, “In case we fail to reach an agreement in the remaining time, we will have another six months.” However he said he was hopeful the two sides could reach a final agreement within the next two months./end
