Diplomats should focus on formation of large-scale anti-terror front under UN auspices - Putin

MOSCOW, February 10. /TASS/. Diplomats should focus on formation of large-scale anti-terror front under UN auspices, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday. "Relying on achieved results, it is important to continue actively defending such fundamental principles of international relations as equality and mutual respect, political and diplomatic resolution of conflicts and crises, collective search for solutions to regional and global problems," Putin wrote in a congratulatory telegram to Russian diplomats published on the official Kremlin website. "Issues of forming a broad anti-terror front on firm legal basis under UN auspices require special attention," the president noted. "Tasks of boosting mutually beneficial cooperation with our foreign partners in all spheres - both in bilateral and multilateral formats - also remain relevant," Putin added. "I hope that you will continue working at full capacity, creatively and with initiative in the interests of ensuring Russia’s dynamic development, further strengthening its authority and influence on global arena," the Russian leader said. Putin highly assessed the work of Russian diplomats. "Russian diplomacy has always decisively and consistently defended the interests of the country. Today, you fulfill your professional duty with honor, adhering to good traditions of predecessors. You resolve the important tasks that you face with dignity," the president went on. "Effective work of Russian Foreign Ministry has significantly contributed to reaching an agreement on Iranian nuclear program, to launching ‘Vienna process’ on facilitating political settlement in Syria," the Russian leader noted. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier today that the Kremlin highly assesses the work of the Russian Foreign Ministry. "Our diplomatic service has deepest roots and in fact is one of the best diplomatic services in the world," Peskov noted. Read more
