Documentary about Mongolia’s contribution in Great Victory created

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A Russian documentary film “Mongoliya byla pervoi” (Mongolia was the First) was presented to the Chief of Staff of the President’s Office P.Tsagaan and the President’s adviser R.Bold, on May 4. The documentary has been created, ordered by the Office of the President of Mongolia, by “Vostok” studio at the East-Asian Academy of the Russian Federation. The story was written by G.Denisov, Yu.Kruchkin and V.Maiboroda, and the film was directed by A.Kovalenko. Saint Petersburg and Ulaanbaatar have hosted the main video-shootings of the documentary. Documentary storyline is based on the narrations of veterans and civilians who had witnessed the war, archived documents and photographs, describing how then- Mongolian People’s Republic (MPR) had declared a state of belligerence just an hour after the Soviet had announced the start of the Great Patriotic War, and had become the very first ally of the USSR to provide donations. Mongolian people’s donations had covered one third of all war-time donations the USSR received. The documentary will show that the People’s Republic of Mongolia had given half million horses as a gift, and also sold a number of horses at the lowest price to the Soviet army. As a result, one horse in every five horses that served at the firing lines. Mongolian people had supplied sheep wool and meat to the Soviet army, which wool had been widely used in production of shoe padding. The film will inform that, on the financial assistance provided by the people of Mongolia, a tank brigade named “Revolutionary Mongolia” and a aircraft escadrille named “Mongolian People” were established. Conversations with Ts.Altangerel, a retired colonel who fought in the western front for three years at his own will, and narrations by academician and paleontologist R.Barsbold and Doctor of Geology O.Gerel, and by the head of the Military History Research Center Colonel S.Ganbold have enriched the documentary.
