Draft amendment to law on nuclear energy to be submitted to parliament

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The cabinet meeting on Monday decided to submit to parliament a draft amendment to the law on nuclear energy because of a necessity to make a regulation in the special payment for exploitation of radioactive mineral resources. By its amendment made on February 18 of 2015, the law on mineral resources had additional clause on regulations in the state ownership of strategic mineral resources, alternative measurement and the special payment for mineral resources’ exploitation. The law on nuclear energy states that all deposits of radioactive minerals, regardless of their sizes, shall be included in the list of strategically important deposits, but it does not have a legal norm which regulates a matter in case of passing a specific shares of mineral deposit ownership to another part. For example, there is no legal environment and regulation for fixing a state ownership of deposits of radioactive minerals and for regulating it with more benefits in present situation.
