Draft Constitution sent to NRC for consideration

BANGKOK, August 22 (TNA) - Thailand’s Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) on Saturday submitted draft Constitution to the National Reform Council (NRC) for consideration before voting whether to accept or not accept it on September 6. The NRC held a special meeting as CDC chairman Borwornsak Uwanno presented the draft Constitution which contained 285 articles to the NRC chairman Tienchay Kiranandana and its vice chairwoman Thatsana Boonthong for consideration. NRC members will receive copy of the draft constitution immediately, after NRC chairman received the draft. Mr Borwornsak said CDC members had listened to opinions on the draft charter from every concerned sector including the National Legislative Assembly, politicians and from the civil sector and made amendments where necessary. Meanwhile, Mr Tienchay said the draft would be forwarded to NRC members for consideration within 15 days. NRC special meeting today was closed and its members would meet again on September 6 to vote whether they approved or disapproved the draft Constitution. The secretariat office of NRC will also publicise the draft Constitution through its website to enable the public to read it in details. (TNA)
