Drive for Increased Production Contributed to Victory in War

Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- The three year-long Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953) was an all-people decisive struggle to defend the young DPRK. During the unprecedentedly fierce war, the DPRK people had waged the dynamic drive for increased production to win the victory in the war. Under the slogan "The rear is, as it were, the front!", the working class at different industrial establishments launched various mass emulation drives for increased production to boost the production of munitions. The workers of Kunja-ri had never stopped the production of weapons and ammunition by turning the driving belts even with their hands, whenever the electric supply was cut off, and made anything insufficient by their own efforts with the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance. Peasants across the country turned out in the wartime drive for increased yield in the spirit of defending the DPRK that put forward them as the owners of land after the liberation of the country from Japan's colonial rule (August 15, 1945). They organized labor-exchange and oxen-sharing teams to ease the shortage of manpower and draught animals and sowed seeds even in filled-up bomb craters and ruined house sites not to lay even an inch of land fallow. Moreover, rural women had displayed patriotic devotion by waging the plow-woman movement. Workers in the field of fishery had also conducted the wartime drive for fishing, braving persistent aerial bombing and naval gunfire, to make contributions to the stabilization of the people's living and the victory in the war. -0-
