Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin to visit Vietnam next week

MOSCOW, November 24. /TASS/. Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin is leaving for Vietnam next week on an official visit, said Duma First Vice-speaker Ivan Melnikov at a meeting with Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyễn Phú Trọng on Monday. On the agenda of bilateral talks in Vietnam is strengthening of cooperation in the parliamentary activity, Melnikov said. The Russian speaker will visit Vietnam shortly before Russia and Vietnam mark important dates in the history of bilateral relations: the 65th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Vietnam due in January 2015, the 40th anniversary since the liberation of southern Vietnam and unification of the country; the 70th anniversary since Vietnam proclaimed independence and the 70th anniversary since the victory in WWII, Melnikov said. For his part, Nguyen Phu Trong said that the aim of his visit is to invite Vladimir Putin to visit Vietnam and take more steps for the development of traditional friendship and relations of strategic partnership between the two countries. He praised a high level of mutual confidence in political relations and fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the field of economy, science, education, security and defense.
