Dy FM: Iran contributes to regional security, stability

Tehran, Dec 18, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran contributes to regional stability and security, adding that it has continuously made efforts in fighting extremism and terrorism. He made the remarks in a meeting with outgoing Singaporean Ambassador to Iran Chew Tai Soo. Sarmadi appreciated the ambassador's contribution to expansion of bilateral ties during his mission in Tehran. Describing Iran as among the most stable country in the region, Sarmadi also said that Iran plays a key role in regional security and stability. Chew Tai Soo, for his part, presented a report on his four-year mission in Iran, saying that his mission in Tehran was full of good memories. He renewed his invitation to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to visit Singapore in future. The Singaporean envoy hoped that Iran-5+1 Group talks will continue on the basis of international regulations. He announced that Iran-Singapore consultation meeting will soon be held at the level of deputy foreign ministers in Tehran. Singapore has always counted on Iran's constructive role in fighting terrorism, he said./end
