Dy FM: Iran President’s Invitation Letter To Be Submitted To Saudi King

Tehran, June 26, IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on Monday President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation letter will be submitted to Saudi King Abdullah to take part in Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Tehran. In an interview with IRNA, he also denied some news about Iran’s decision not to invite King Abdullah to NAM summit which is to be held in September. Amir Abdollahian said Iran is seriously following up the execution of 18 Iranian nationals in Saudi Arabia on charges of drug trafficking. He said Iran cannot consider the new Saudi’s move as a merely simple technical action because the Saudi foreign minister in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi had said that the convicted persons would not be executed. But after a while an official statement by the Saudi Foreign Ministry confirmed the execution of the Iranian nationals. The deputy FM also expressed congratulations to new Saudi Crown Prince Salman Bin Abd al-Aziz and expressed hope Saudi officials would revise their policies on Bahrain and Syria during Bin Abd al-Aziz term in office./end
