Dy FM: Iraq Election, Major Political Event In Region

Tehran, May 12, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdullahian said here Sunday evening that the Iraqi elections was a major regional event. On the sidelines of the welcoming ceremony of Iraqˈs Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Roj Nuri Shaways, Amir-Abdullahian felicitated the neighboring Iraqi nation for the high turnout in the recent parliamentary elections. Referring to Tehran-Baghdad close ties, he said exchange of mutual visits by both countriesˈ officials will lead to further expansion of all-out cooperation, especially in the economic field. Praising the brotherly ties between both countries, Shaways termed Iran as a real friend of Iraqi people and voiced his countryˈs firm determination to develop all-out ties with Tehran.
