Dy FM In Libya To Seek Freedom Of Iranian Captives

Tehran, August 14, IRNA -- Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular and Majlis Affairs Hassan Qashqavi on Monday paid a visit to Benghazi in Libya to seek freedom of Iranian captives. Accompanied with Secretary-General of Iranian Red Crescent Society Zaher Rostami, he left Tehran to Benghazi. Qashqavi is following up fate of the Iranian captives held by Libyan armed forces. The captives are officials of Iranian Red Crescent Society. The Foreign Ministry officials will consult with Libyan Government and the International Red Crescent Society. Two weeks ago a seven-member team of humanitarian aid agency, Iranian Red Crescent Society visited Benghazi to provide humanitarian relief supplies to the crisis stricken people, but, they were held captive by armed forces. Investigations are underway to determine their whereabouts./end
