EAEU parliamentarians to hold a conference on security, migration

MOSCOW, July 2. /TASS/. Speaker of the Russian State Duma lower house of parliament Sergei Naryshkin will discuss issues of security, economic cooperation and migration legislation on Thursday with lawmakers of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in Moscow at the First Forum of Young EAEU Leaders. Taking part in the discussion will be members of the parliaments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Armenia, as well as businessmen and public figures. State Duma deputy chief of staff Yuri Shuvalov told reporters on Wednesday the forum participants planned to discuss "security issues in the world in general and in the Eurasian economic cooperation member states’ space, in particular." The forum will also focus on matters related to the improvement of migration legislation, harmonisation and unification of normative legal acts in the field of education. Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed in Astana on May 29, 2014, a Treaty on the EAEU establishment, which came into force on January 1, 2015. Armenia joined the Treaty in December 2014. On Wednesday, the State Duma ratified an agreement on Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Union. The Eurasian Economic Union is an international organisation for regional economic integration. EAEU provides for free movement of goods, services, capital and labour, pursues coordinated, harmonised and single policy in the sectors determined by the Treaty and international agreements within the Union. The Union is being created to comprehensively upgrade, raise the competitiveness of and cooperation between the national economies, and to promote stable development in order to raise the living standards of the nations of the member states.
