EC Secretary Backs President Rohani's Overture To Western Govts

Shahr-e Kord, Chaharmahal Bakhtiari prov, Sept 24, IRNA – Secretary of Expediency Council, Mohsen Rezaei, said on Monday that President Hassan Rohani overture to the western governments to lift arbitrary sanctions must enjoy support of the political parties. He said that President Rohani has taken initiative to communicate with the world public opinion to indicate that the western governments have perpetrated unlawful action by imposing arbitrary sanctions on Iranian economy. He said that the sanctions the western governments have imposed on Iran are against international law and the humanitarian principles and President Rohani has promised to vindicate the rights of Iranian nation by obliging the western governments to lift the arbitrary sanctions. He made it clear that President Rohani has promised at the same time to guarantee the rights of Iranian nation enshrined by Non-Proliferation Treaty. President Rohani said at a military parade on Sunday that Iran wants the western governments to recognize Iranian rights to produce nuclear energy in line with NPT and the Safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency. According to NPT, the IAEA member states are entitled to enrich uranium to produce fuel for power plants. Iran has converted 20 percent uranium enrichment to fuel it needs to produce isotopes by Tehran reactor for 400,000 cancer patients./end
