ECO Members Must Stop Violation Of Other Nations Rights

Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA -- Head of Iranian State Inspectorate Organization Hojjatoleslam Mostafa Pourmohammadi said on Monday Economic Cooperation Organization must stop violating other nations' rights. He made the remarks in the second meting of the International Association of Anti-corruption Authority and Ombudsmen in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on November 23-24. Pourmohammadi said ECO member countries must commit themselves to do their utmost to stop any aggression and violation of nations rights as their most important task of anti-corruption mission. "Unfortunately nowadays we are witnessing how the rights of Palestinian innocent people's right in Gaza is being violated by the so-called Zionist regime," he added. The Iranian official expressed Iran's readiness to provide ECO member countries with services and specialized activities to combat corruption. ECO is an intergovernmental and regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey, and provides a platform to promote economic, technical and cultural cooperation among member states. The organization was expanded in 1992 to include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan as its seven new members. Pourmaohammadi in the meeting proposed to establish an anti-corruption center for the member states of ECO and the proposal has been accepted by the member states. Dushanbe meeting kicked of on the main objectives of regional campaign against corruption, drug trafficking, smuggling, human trafficking, money laundering, and organized crimes. The first anti-corruption meeting of the ECO member states was inaugurated in Tehran on May 22, 2011, at the behest of the United Nations anti-corruption commission and Iran's initiative. The charter of the ECO on cooperation of anti-corruption agencies and ombudsmen has been signed by the heads of anti-corruption ombudsmen ECO member states./end
