Economic Achievements Made in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Signal achievements have been made in various economic sectors of the DPRK in 50 days after the start of the 200-day campaign, a drive launched to significantly adorn this year that witnessed the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea. In the power industry, the electricity output increased much more than scheduled, through a brisk technical innovation movement at thermal power plants and careful management at hydropower stations. The country's coal production plan was carried out at 103 percent while the metal industrial establishments hit their production targets. The railway transport sector, too, over-fulfilled its freight assignment by 16 percent. Similar successes were also reported from such major industrial sectors as machine, chemistry, building-materials and forestry. And a rapid progress was made in the light industry, the food and consumer goods industries and the fisheries to considerably improve the people's livelihood. Meanwhile, the construction of Ryomyong Street in Pyongyang is making good headway. Its frame-working reached the final stage and interior and exterior plastering was finished at some apartment houses. -0-
