Economy Minister Criticizes Anti-Iran Sanctions

New York, Oct 11, IRNA - Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance Ali Tayebnia criticized the international sanctions against Iran and called them unjust. He made the remarks while addressing the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington. He also criticized the World Bank and International Monetary Fund's political approach towards certain members including Iran. The unfair sanctions have in fact targetted the Iranian nation, he regretted. Tayebnia, leading a high-ranking delegation of economic officials and Iranian MPs, left Tehran for Washington on Wednesday to participate in the event to be held on October 10-12. Each year, the annual spring and autumn meetings are held in mid-April and mid-October in Washington respectively, and every three years a member county hosts the annual summit. Headquartered in Washington, the IMF is an organization of 188 countries working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world./end
