Efficient anti-IS fight possible only as part of single coalition, Kremlin says

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Moscow is still sure that the efficient fight against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group is possible only as part of a single coalition, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday. "President Putin and Russia’s representatives at various levels have repeatedly stressed our confidence that the efficient fight against these dangerous manifestations (international terrorism, IS) is possible only on the platform of a single coalition and the full coordination of joint actions," Peskov said. "We believe international terrorism, and in this case the Islamic State, which has managed to in fact occupy a significant part of territory of several states, namely Syria and Iraq, of course, poses an equal threat for all of us, for all the states," Peskov said. Peskov commented on US President Barack Obama’s address to the nation late Sunday about terror threats and ensuring national security. The US leader called for more active cooperation with Washington’s friends and allies and allowing such countries as Russia to make more contribution in the common cause. Read more
