Egyptian Intellectual: Certain Arab Gov'ts Are US-Zionist Regime Agents

Tehran, May 27, IRNA – An Egyptian intellectual Fahmi Huwaidi said on Sunday that certain Arab governments are agents of the US and the Zionist regime. Speaking to Tunisian daily al Shorouk, he claimed that an Arab head of state holds weekly meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He said that the Arab League no longer represents Arab nations and is only after implementing the policies of a few Arab regimes. Most Arab regimes completely follow the policies of the US and Zionist regimes and this fact has divided the Arab League in connection with Geneva 2 conference on Syrian crisis so that some member states believe that the crisis can be resolved through diplomatic means while others talk about a military settlement, he said. Huwaidi noted that Geneva 2 conference is centered on a diplomatic and democratic resolution and there is no place for a military resolution. He said that Iran and Russia are unanimous that President Assad must stay in power at least until the next presidential election and the US has agreed with them in this regard. He concluded that Arab governments would not play an effective role in the upcoming conference on Syria./end
