Baku, December 24 (AzerTAc). “Election of Azerbaijan as non-permanent member to UN Security Council may be is the most essential, most important victory in the history of our independent country. This victory reflects all we did both in the country and on the international arena”, President Aliyev stated in his interview given to author and host of the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company`s “Formula of Power” program Mikhail Gusman on December 23 current year. President of Azerbaijan said during 20 years of independence we could achieve that 15 countries supported our candidacy in a tense struggle. Sure, along with image and reputation, this will have practical effect at the Security Council. And not only to ensure the interests of our country, but also the interests in settlement of our most painful problem, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. We shall regularly keep this item in focus of the Security Council. And will try to make certain contribution to strengthening of peace, security and cooperation. Touching upon the process of settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, President Aliyev said solution of this question depends on the international legal principles, on implementation of decisions of the UN Security Council a member of which currently we are. These decisions should be implemented. There are four as such. And with the same demand: Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity should be restored. This is our sovereign right. We have sovereign rights to restore our territorial integrity not only by political means, but also through military way. This is in line with the UN Charter.
