Enemies Try To Damage Egypt Unity: Afkham

Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham Monday regretted the recent conflicts in Egypt noting that enemies are trying to spread insecurity and instability and damage unity and solidarity in that country. Commenting on Sunday’s conflicts in Egypt which left over 50 dead and hundreds of injured in that country, Afkham condemned any act of violence and called for self-restraint of all parties. She also urged the need to seek peaceful solutions based on dialogue and mutual understanding to solve the ongoing problem in Egypt and restore rights of the Egyptian people. Afkham also called for maintaining democratic trend in Egypt. Egyptian opponents who are supporters of the toppled President Mohamed Morsi are protesting against policies made by the country’s transitional government./end
