Envoy : Re-emergence Of Al-Qaeda Outcome Of West Wrong Policy

Madrid, Jan 23, IRNA – Iranˈs Ambassador to Spain Morteza Saffari said that re-emergence of al-Qaeda in Africa and other places in the world are consequences of wrong function of western countries to solve crises. In an interview with Spainˈs official news agency ˈ EFEˈ, Morteza Saffari said that such groups are results of inappropriate actions of west in Libya. ˈI do not say that Qaddafi regime was good, but function of western governments, which were supporting certain groups in that country, have caused current problems in northwest of Africa.ˈ He stressed that during Libya crisis, west equipped radical groups related to al-Qaeda in Libya with military weapons and equipment, and the terrorist groups kept weapons to use later in countries like Mali, Syria, Iraq and recently in Algeria. The ambassador continued that western countries have dual behavior concerning terrorist groups and this situation will hurt campaign against terrorism clearly. He said that west does not behave transparently concerning terrorist groups, adding that we believe fight against terrorism is a global problem and all should be committed to their obligations seriously. ˈSpainˈs invitation of head of terrorist group of MKO Maryam Rajavi in December 2012 is a clear witness of dual behavior of the west on their obligation concerning terrorism.ˈ About situation in Syria, the ambassador said that western countries insist on taking decision who should stay in Syrian government and who should leave, while it is only Syrian people who can take decision in this matter. Saffari continued that if President Bashar al-Assad could resist for two years against crisis in his country, it means that he has support of his own people, military and security forces. ˈSo, we should count on this government and try to find a peaceful solution inside the country to depart from the crisis.ˈ The Syrian people have also demands from their government that should be fulfilled, the envoy reminded. Criticizing western countries function in Syria crisis, the ambassador said that it is better for them to help national reconciliation process to establish peace and tranquility./end
