Envoy: Russia-Iran Ties Expanding In All Areas

Moscow, Jan 5, IRNA -- Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan underlined that Moscow-Tehran bilateral ties in all fields will be expanded. The exchange of diplomatic delegations between Iran and Russia regularly takes place and the delegations of the two countries takes place not only at ministerial level, but at higher governmental and parliamentary levels, Dzhagaryan said. The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and (his Iranian counterpart) Hassan Rouhani in September on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Bishkek was of special importance during which the two sides underlined on ways for consolidation of bilateral ties, he added. On Friday, the Russian ambassador pointed to economic ties between Russia and Iran, and said, “If attractive conditions are provided for Russian firms to take part in Iran’s oil and gas projects, we will most likely see more companies in the future.” In October, Russia’s second largest oil company, Lukoil, voiced its interest to take part in Iran’s oil and gas projects. If there are changes, if restrictions and sanctions are lifted, then, of course, we will very cautiously return to the project (in Iran), Vice President of Lukoil Overseas Gati Saadi al-Jebouri said at the time. Iran and Russia have vast cooperation in different fields, specially in political and economic spheres. The two states also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long had constant and regular consultations on key regional and global issues./end
