Erdoganˈs Dreams Not Come True In Region : Turkish Analyst

Ankara, July 21, IRNA – The resistance and victories of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and the overthrow of Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi have disrupted the regional dreams of Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, a Turkish Middle East analyst said on Sunday. Speaking to IRNA exclusively, Husni Mahali said the continuation of peopleˈs support for President al-Assad and the defeat of terrorists plots aimed at toppling the Damascus government on one hand and dismissal of Morsi on the other have hit serious blows to the US-led Middle East plan highly supported by Erdogan. Morsi and Erdogan both were trying to topple the Damascus government, he said, adding that Erdogan is concerned over the recent developments in Egypt since he needed Morsi government in order to become a regional leader. Mahali noted that Morsi and Erdogan had close collaboration in political and ideological arenas, adding the Turkish PM was well aware that in order to achieve his objective of becoming a regional leader he was in need of support by the Egyptian government. He stressed that the two officials were trying to follow the same policy of taking control of all governmental bodies but the Egyptian and Turkish people were against such policies./end
