Escalation of tension in Syria was discussed with UN Security Council - de Mistura

GENEVA, April 28. /TASS/. The second round of intra-Syrian talks was held on the backdrop of escalation of the conflict in Syria and constant violations of the ceasefire regime, United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said on Wednesday summing up the round’s resukts. Earlier, he reported these results to the United Nations Security Council in the videoconference regime. He said the ceasefire regime in Syria is in place but it can be broken down any time. He called to give a fresh impetus to the ceasefire regime. If it is observed as previously, it will not be difficult to get all the delegations back at the negotiating table. He urged Russia and the United States, as the co-chair, to help promote the ceasefire regime. According to de Mistura, in the past 48 hours, one Syrian has been killed every 25 minutes and one Syria has been wounded every 13 minutes. Read more
