EU Security Expert: US incapable of invading Iran

Vienna, Nov 5, IRNA – An EU security expert following media hue and cry on imminent probability of a US invasion against Iran emphasized here Friday Washington in currently incapable of attacking that country. According to IRNA Friday News service, Senior research fellow working with European Union Institute for Security Studies in Paris, Walter Posch, who was speaking with the Austrian daily “Standard” in response to a question whether the United States is capable of starting another war in the region, said, “The question to be asked first is whether the regional countries can tolerate the outbreak of another war in their region? The answer to which is definitely a big no!” He added, “Regarding the United States, too, we must say that (the US President Barack) Obama is incapable of launching another war, and besides, with the upcoming US Presidential Election, it would not be to his benefit to enter that scene.” The European security and military affairs expert further reiterated in his interview, “Under the current conditions, the United States is merely in a position to threaten Iran, but not in a status to invade it militarily.” Posch in response to another question on the west’s lingering insistence in threatening Iran of military invasions, said, “Such efforts are useless in practice, since the decision makers in Iran are mainly war veterans, and they are therefore not affected by such psychological works.” The expert who is at his institute also known as an Iran affairs expert at the end advised the west to observe flexibility in its encounters with Iran, since many of the regional crises can be solves in cooperation with Tehran.
