European-UAE Human Rights Working Group visits Hedaya Centre

ABU DHABI, 27th May 2015 (WAM) --- A delegation from the European-UAE Human Rights Working Group has visited the Ab Dhabi-based International Centre of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism (Hedayah). The delegation included John O’Rourke, Head of Division Arabian Peninsula, Iran and Iraq at European External Action Service of the EU, Amna Al Muhairi, Head of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Executive Director of Hedayah, Maqsoud Kruse welcomed the delegation and stressed that its visit is important because it reflects the fruitful strategic partnership with the UAE. A brief presentation was given for the delegation to learn about the centre's goals, achievements and activities in the domains of dialogue, training and research. The two sides discussed the present day challenges and relevant future initiatives for countering these challenges. They also highlighted the active role of Hedayah which works hand in hand with the international community to fend off violent extremism and all its forms and manifestations throughout society.
