Event highlighting Azerbaijani-Japanese ties held in Tokyo

Tokyo, November 20 AZERTAC An event on Azerbaijan-Japanese ties has been held with the participation of members of the International Friendship Centre at the country`s Embassy to Tokyo. Ambassador Gursel Ismayilzade spoke of Azerbaijan`s achievements gained over the last years, as well as its economic development, Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, current state and prospects of Azerbaijani-Japanese bonds. The Ambassador also highlighted the country`s history, art, culture, national traditions, large-scale projects carried out in Azerbaijan. The Diplomat provided an insight into the country`s hosting the First European Games, saying the Islamic Solidarity Games would be held in Baku in 2017. "Azerbaijan plays an important role in development of the intercultural dialogue. The country played significant role in ensuring the energy security of Europe. Azerbaijan attached great importance to development of non-oil sector," the diplomat said. Mr. Ismayilzade also highlighted the country`s opportunities in the fields of industry, tourism, agriculture alternative and renewable energy sources. On Azerbaijani-Japanese diplomatic relations, the ambassador said national leader Heydar Aliyev`s visit to Japan in 1998 opened new page in our bonds. "President Ilham Aliyev`s official visit to Japan in 2006 gave impulse to development of the ties." He added.
